Konad Houndstooth Pattern
I have another Konad manicure to show you, a houndstooth pattern:

I used Konad plate M63.
I’m having a lot of fun with my Konad set right now, but don’t worry, I haven’t given up handpainted nail art. I’ll continue to post tutorials for you but be patient as I tend to get fixated with new presents. :)
Konad has been great to me lately as it has allowed me to wear nail art when I’m too busy for handpainting. Soon I’ll find the time to strike a balance between Konad posts and the handpainted tutorials.
See you soon,
Asami.

Thanks for doing that manicure. I love houndstooth pattern. That’s exactly the combination of a dress I had when I was young. It was my favorite dress. When I buy a Konad kit that will be one of the first manicures I try. Love your art work on your nails.

Lucy,
Thanks! It’s a great image plate overall; I definitely recommend it. I think it would look super cute on toes too. :)

Hi Asami!
Long time no see~ hehe
Wow, that houndstooth is so cool.
Konad is cute and useful but I’m buying
too many things lately so I can’t give in to my material desires.. ^^;
Looking forward to seeing more konadicures!

Is it possible to use Konad with regular nailpolish? I just wondered, since it’s kind of hard for me to buy those Konad colours.
Btw, I just adore you’re styles. They are so fresh and untroubled.
Keep it real, I love your blog :)

Mika, thanks! - it’s good to know the Konadicures are being enjoyed and not dreaded. Maybe someone will gift you with a Konad set for the next holiday. :)
Liina Leino, it is possible! In fact, in this post: http://asami.choseit.com/subtle-konad-flowers-konad-seahorses/ I used a China Glaze and a Sephora by OPI polish for stamping. As you can see from the pictures though, they’re a lot more subtle than my Konad stamping polishes. If that’s the look you’re going for though, it works out great. (I’ve seen some non-Konad stamping polishes create opaque prints as well, the key is just using a polish that’s quite thick. I tried a dark Loreal polish I have that got a bit gloppy, and it stamped marvelously.) Thanks for the compliment! I love the words you used, “fresh and untroubled.” :D

Ever thought of writing up your manicure routine on here? I’ve tried your advice of biotin (i found this nail, skin, hair pill with 2.5mg of biotin and [remember me from Aus can only find 300mcg pills] take 2 extra 300mcg pills to bring it up to 3mg) I take this silica gel that has rave reviews claimed to help hair and nails and I try all sorts of hand creams. Still the idea of having long strong nails all the same length is a distant dream to me. So I was hoping to know what you do, Asami? The two biggest problems I think I have is not drinking enough water and not biting but sucking on my nails (I’ve tried anti-biting polish and I get used to the taste). I used to bite, stopped and then developed the sucking habit.
Any help would be great.
Cheers.

Love it! Always do. I’ll have to look into this newest greatest invention. My nails are growing. yay! I actually went to south beach this past weekend and was in awe of the beautiful art work that I saw. I was inspired by one girl who had french manicure, but instead of the classic white tips, she had a rainbow of color tips. I called it the skittle manicure. When I got home I tried to replicate it. Although she had acrylic nails, My nails are long enough to do a french tip mani. I chose 5 different neon colors, orange, yellow, purple, pink and blue. Each finger has a different color tip….it’s toooo cute! I’ll post a pic, if possible on your page soon.
take care Asami

i’m so jealous! i only have the starter kit that i got as a gift. would love to get a bigger konad kit, but i’m hesitant because of the price. =(
i have a question for you, do you use the konad top coat, or do you use a different brand for a top coat? i have a top coat that actually smears the images, which, i no longer use when i stamp my nails.

The detail in those rock. Brilliant. Much prefer paisley though.

Wow this is amazing! How do you manage to get such precise contours with the stamp? :D

Wow, that is so crisp and clear!!! Great job!

I love your tutorials and pics! They are inspiring me to stop biting my nails. :)
Would you be interested in contributing to my site for teens? I’d love to add some manicure tips and since I currently bite all my nails off, I can’t do it. (Plus I am not nearly as talented as you!)
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Larissa, the Skittle mani sounds so cute! I’d love to see it and maybe try it myself if you still have the picture.
P, I use several topcoats and as long as I don’t go over the same area twice, smearing is not an issue. I find wider brushes like OPI can prevent smearing, as it’s easier to cover a whole nail in 2-3 strokes.
Michelle, I have no idea! I “roll” the stamper? Sorry, Konad is just that awesome! :D
hailey, I know, it’s been forever. I’m currently bombarded with college and my posts have fallen to the wayside by necessity. I hope to come back with my own domain and fresh posts. :)
Queen Bee, I’m very sorry but I can’t be counted on as a “regular” contributer by any means. This is just a casual hobby for me and I’m likely to disappear for weeks at a time without notice. I’m flattered by your offer though. :)
THANK YOU VERY MUCH to everyone else who left me compliments on this mani, I tried to answer all the questions and I hope to make this blanket thank-you up to you all soon. I’m trying to get through the mass back-log of comments right now. :D

I still don’t understand how you do this…could you please do a tutorial for this???
May 6th, 2009 at 11:24 pm
Aliene, search “Konad” on YouTube to get a basic understand of the stamping action. For this mani I painted my full nails in white, and used a Konad stamping polish (black) to roll on the houndstooth pattern. I think after you see a video you’ll understand the process, but if you’re still confused by all means come back and I’d be glad to help. :)
